My thoughts as one of Tankmas 2024's contributors:

Really sweet collab here! Everyone put so much work into their animations and I love it.

Great music too! Clouds Divide is an awesome song, props again to Troisnyx, ADR-3N, and all the rest for creating such a masterpiece!

And finally props to MidgetSausage for putting this awesome project together. Must have been really hard to do.

I know I'm late this was a busy week.

Really awesome Christmas movie! Everyone did a great job at making something cohesive yet each part is unique.

Wow I've never used a game console but you all put so much effort into this and I love it!

thank you for the kind words!

Really cute game!

I've played it for about 10 minutes now and this is actually really lovely!

Trois, good job on the music as usual.

JJGames64, I like the concept of this. It wasn't easy to figure out all the controls at first, but I've done that now!

Whoever did the voice-over lines, your stuff never got boring.

This is definitely a co-op game, and I can't do it all as one Tin3Sn. Although I do see a lot of potential when playing with friends.

(PS: This is also the first game I've reviewed when it actually came out.)

We're here! Excited for everyone to hear my song in a few days.

Happy independence day Mexico and great job everybody! Funny I had tacos yesterday and never even made the connection.

Hey ADR3-N it's good to see you active here!

I like this A LOT! Feels like something straight out of pre-2015 Newgrounds (the best of days for gaming), which is actually just what I wanted in this moment. I'm really happy~!

So, um... the best part of the song is probably that chord sequence at around 2:04 and then lasts another minute. Always big for those magical chord progressions (actually working on a song with one right now).

A couple criticisms though: One, this does feel a bit too long. It's not really developing enough by the end to warrant being that long in my mind. Two, why was this called a Gregorian house song? It didn't feel too ancient-y to me (for the record something like: https://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/1015214 is what I might call Gregorian).

Beyond that this is amazing! You deserve me to give your vocal stuff attention, it is why I gave you that friend request after all~. :D

ADR3-N responds:

HEY! This track actually came out of the depths of my many references and samples. I found a slap-house pack in my archives. It reminded me of a meme I saw once upon a time -- the gregorian house meme of that one Toblerone anime.

Slap house is a genre that is particularly popular in Russia, has been for a while as well as commercial deep house. I've wanted to experiment with it for a long time. It's typically fairly simple in terms of rhythm and structure, focusing on groove and sound design. One of the many things I like about it! I still couldn't resist switching it up a bit at 2:04 with some chromaticism and olskool raw house samples, the kind that you find in old breakbeat.

As for why it's Gregorian, well, the choir, and I built the entire track off of said choir's chord progressions.

Don't worry -- I have a song coming up that's going to make you very happy, vocally speaking. It's a cover of t.A.T.u's "Sacrifice", in the same singing style as Clouds. Well, minus rapping xD

PS: thanks for the criticism and recommendation! Checking out now

TeffyD I love this! It's so jaunty and cute, totally feeling like a retro game (king of reminds me of this game called Drop Sum in a lot of ways). Happy Pixel Day!

(PS: I hope I can put something out too. You've definitely inspired me a lot!)

Okay.

This sounds more like lounge music than outright jazz. It sounds really robotic too, although not necessarily in a bad way.

I do like what you're doing with the melodies though. It does shout jazz to my ears quite a bit.

I'll give you a 3.5. This isn't a supremely amazing composition in my eyes, but it definitely works.

This is so sweet Shiverwar. Proof it doesn't just have to be all fun or sadness or sexiness, just something wholesome sometimes works.

I'm gonna fave this and I might set this as my Valentine's background.

Shiverwar responds:

Yeah, with the stories I've got going on, they focus more on the little moments than sexiness, though with Lilac the sexiness IS gonna happen (just not explicit stuff, more like she's trying to do anything to break him and it just isn't working, and she ends up gradually falling in love with him instead). This is during one of his weaker moments when he tries and fails to stand up for Lilac when a group of goons tries to solicit her (though given she's a demon she could easily take them out herself). Instead of admonishing him for being weak or pathetic or anything, all she wants to do is reassure him that he doesn't have to try so hard because he's already proven his worth to her in a different way. She just wants him to be himself and to continue doing what he knows because when he's in his zone, that's what she wants to see. Julian's sense of self-worth has been in the tank for years, but until this point in their budding relationship he's kept it behind a very well-kept mask. Only, as he helped Lilac get used to the human world and even start to enjoy being there, he can't help but feel that inferiority again, because she has everything he wants: he wants to be strong, carefree, a better stature, and overall just being a better person. After being beaten to hell and back, his self-loathing reaches a breaking point and, while Lilac's asleep, he starts trashing his study, his primary sanctuary, in a fit of inferiority-fueled rage. Lilac wakes up to this, and Julian starts telling her to say that he's weak, that he'll never measure up to anything, because if he can't even be strong enough to protect her, then what good is he to her? That's when she leads him to the bedroom and just focuses on consoling and reassuring her human partner, hence the picture. She doesn't care that he's physically weak or that his lung disease (unmentioned) keeps him from being able to protect her, because she's more than happy to be the protector instead. She knows that if she's ever in danger herself, regardless of his own weakness, he'll be there to endure it with her, because that's just the kind of person she knows he is. She spent the first few months of being in the human world focused solely on making his life hell and tormenting him, but to seemingly no avail. In truth, he had been internalizing all the insults and all of the attempts at making him miserable because even before he met her, that was all he really knew anyway: being alone, his mother having thrown him away at age 15 (she's an absolute headcase of a zealot who constantly said he was pretty much worthless because of his stunted height, his lung condition, and his odd eyes being a mark of evil). His uncle was the one who got him back on his feet and even left him the estate when he died, so Julian lived alone for a while before his studies bore fruit: summoning a demon, hence Lilac. Turns out, they were the best thing to ever happen to each other.

Sorry for the friggin' novel of a response. Once I started, I just couldn't stop!

Mega cute!

This might be the best of every artwork you've made thus far!

Take a fave and I'll post about this on BlueSky.
