[lost under the stars]

Alright Trois. Hearing a tidbit of it on bluesky I decided to listen to the full song, and here are my thoughts:

So pretty!

Listening to this makes me think of snow falling me all around me while I sit and see the stars in the sky, mountain peaks illuminated under moonlight. It's a really great Winter song! (Yesterday was the solstice by the way.) The beeps at the beginning are harsh but by the end it just blends so well that I don't even mind all that much. Especially under this bed of synths of you've created, which is just amazing. It really does feel like a bed I could sleep under.

The song sounds like a hymn to Winter, and that might be part of its charm. I hope you can take this as a compliment, you always seem to have this ability to create songs that fit both the religious and video game OST genres extremely well. This song actually helped me realize this (it's something better suited to a full conversation than a small review).

Perhaps it's no surprise the melody looked like mountains. As I said, that probably was a sign that this piece was destined to work REALLY well.

[Towards a New Year]

TeffyD this is really beautiful!

You nailed the end of year feel. This is so reflective, like you've seen the year come to an end and you feel both happy for the new one coming yet sad this source of memories can't stay with you any longer. Everything about this is so nostalgic and well-crafted. It kind of has an anime feel to it. Like a Studio Ghibli movie meets Christmas I suppose. Maybe that's why I found myself getting deeply emotionally moved to it!

Being an anime fan myself I have to give this a fave even if it wasn't your intention. It's just that good. I'm really looking forward to hearing this in Tankmas. May 2025 bring you warmth and sparkles!

[Another Tankmas Snowday]

This is really nice!

The intro is nothing short of amazing. I want to cry it's so beautiful. It makes me think of the old innocent days rather powerfully, something I really feel like we need this Christmas. Those chords really hit me.

Beyond that I find the song a lot more upbeat and very different from the intro, but not in a bad way. I actually like it a lot. I feel like I'm playing in the snow as an adult but feeling like a child again. Really nice bells and use of pizzicato as well.

TeraVex you are yet another great artist I've discovered through Tankmas this year. Have a follow and a very merry Christmas!

[Spiritus]

AMAZING!

Albe-san I followed you because you contributed to Can You See The Clouds Divide and this next song did not disappoint.

This kind of sounds like I'm walking through a fantasy Winter wonderland and seeing snow and lights falling all around. It warms my heart on a level I cannot describe but that I appreciate beyond words.

The vocal lines are pure genius as well and it may actually be one of my favourite parts of any song ever, it's that well written. The instrumentation is absolutely sublime and you nailed the chord progression too.

I don't know this might be my favourite Tankmas song now. It's so beautiful it makes my heart want to stop.

You're getting a favourite from me for sure and a place on my best Christmas songs list this year. Merry Christmas indeed!

[HARK! The Herald Angel Sing]

You are another one of these awesome talents I discovered through participating in Tankmas.

This song is amazing and you perfectly captured that imagery you talked about in the description. There's not much more to say than great job! You must be a wizard~. :-D

Seriously though, this is GREAT! I want to play this on a date in the snow, it's so beautiful. I can easily see how you got frontpaged making music as great as this!

This is good.

I'm not a huge fan of the introduction. Then again I never liked rap that much anyway, but something about the delivery just doesn't work. It needs to be changed.

Beyond that I absolutely LOVE what you've done with this. It sounds so dreamy, and you definitely nailed the anime feel! This sounds like one of those songs you'd hear on a YouTube lo-fi playlist in the best possible way.

[polyrhythmic experiment]

This is really neat!

I like the feel of this. Polyrhythms really are something special aren't they? They don't get enough attention.

Good job using normal rhythms to transition into the special stuff instead of just thrusting the listener in there too. Helps make it sound more accessible.

In all, keep up stuff like this. It's really cool!

[CLOUDS DIVIDE (PENULTIMATE MIX)]

Alright here's my review:

Worse than the other mix but still rules!

The extended version I reviewed (the one where I said I gave you all follows because it f-ing slapped, which is true) felt like an absolutely otherworldy experience. This version, in contrast, is much more conventional but stands out for being relaxing yet inspiration too.

As usual ADR3-N I loved you performance here! You absolutely shred at the mic and I like that you don't shy away from expressing emotions in your voice. It really makes me feel like there is a person behind it not a persona.

Instrumentally I wasn't happy about hearing the massive instrumental in the main version. That probably made the song as special as it was. Though I guess this does work as a kind of dreamy song, and I do love vocal layering towards the end too.

Lyrically, this seems like it rules too. It's not my specialty but I like these lyrics a lot.

In all, I'm seriously impressed ADR3-N you were able to mix something like this all by yourself. It really sounds amazing and as someone who struggles with this, it gives me a lot of hope for my own journey!

It's really great. I actually gave this a fave while listening I like it so much. Keep this up!

Yo! Sad that the mix was not to your preference but I'm just not as talented of a writer and arranger as @Troisnyx and some of our more spirited collaborators! :') I'm very much a keep it simple kind of producer in terms of melody, and if I try to go big with my productions, they can get cluttered. Electronic music and metal is more my specialty so that massive mix you liked actually is not to my particular taste! Haha. Not to say I don't like it, but I would have just done it differently and that's OK! I also have hearing damage so, well, it is what it is

Now if by mix you mean production, I can definitely understand that too. This is more poppy/clubby and the final version is a magnum opus.

I'm not sure if some of my rap was censored in the previous version for referencing unalive-ness but this is the original version of my lyrical performances for Clouds and thus the freshest. For the last version we did, I had to vocally jam some new lyrics and melodies to not only fill space but get into the emotional headspace to rerecord all of these takes!

All in all I'm really glad you liked it!

[Holiday Memories - Tankmas 2024]

So great!

I love the feel of this. I think you perfectly nailed the theme of "Holiday Memories" and this piece is one of my favourites in the Tankmas collection. It's so delicate and moving and just listening to it has already helped get me in the Christmas spirit.

The only problem for me is that it feels too short, but it's still quite good enough to get a 5.

This is amazing!

You perfectly nailed the snowy and Christmassy vibes of this, this might be my favourite (although not the best) of all the songs in Tankmas 2024 thus far!
